Rick Pedone Vice President Rick’s involvement with Courageous stems from a desire to provide every child, regardless of their financial circumstances, with the opportunity to sail and develop self confidence on the ocean, whether racing or cruising. Toward that end Rick began taking on various volunteer tasks for Courageous in 1996. In 1998 he was first elected to the Board and for the past few years he has served as an officer. As Vice President Rick is serving as chair of the Board’s facilities sub-committee. Rick is an attorney in Nixon Peabody LLP’s Boston office. Rick’s practice focuses on bankruptcy and litigation. At Nixon Peabody Rick regularly represents creditors and other parties in large corporate bankruptcy cases around the country. He also has extensive trial experience in state and federal court. Prior to attending graduate school Rick worked as a commercial and industrial real estate broker. In addition, he worked as a Staff Assistant on the Weld for Governor Campaign in 1990, and clerked in the Office of Chief Legal Counsel to the Governor during law school.
Rick lives in Hingham with his wife Cheryl and their two daughters, Amelia (6) and Hannah (4). Rick and his family spend their weekends sailing out of Westport, Mass. Rick graduated from Bates College in 1989, received an M.Sc. in Comparative Government from the London School of Economics and Political Science in 1992, and his J.D. from Boston College Law School in 1995.
