Jon RotenbergPresident Having recently joined the Courageous Board, Jon brings with him a wealth of experience in the sailing industry and in managing non-profit organizations. Jon is an experienced sailor having first learned to sail when he was six years old. He believes wholeheartedly in the the value of sailing as a means of gaining self-confidence, leadership and teamwork skills. An experienced entrepeneur, Jon is the founder and President of Eastern Yacht Sales, one of the nation's largest sailboat dealerships. He is also a founding member and was Vice President for seven years of Sail America, the premier national sailing industry association. In addition to his participation at Courageous, he is the President of the Board of Trustees of Winchendon School, Chairman of the Newbury Street League and was Treasurer of the Robert F Kennedy Action Corps for Children for 29 years. Jon was State Representative for the town of Brookline for two terms and has always been politically active. Among other activities, he served as a legislative aid to Congressman Thomas P O'Neill and was Vice-Chair for the 1988 Democratic Victory Fund during the Dukakis campaign. Jon lives in Boston, is married to Bonnie Allen Rotenberg and has two daughters Fay and Lee both of whom are sailors. An alumni of the Winchendon School, he received a BS from Ohio University and a Masters in Public Administration from the Harvard University Kennedy School of Government.
