Step 3 is an Intermediate Sailing course offered to children ages 10 and up from throughout the Greater Boston Area. Each session of Step 3 lasts three weeks, and students typically repeat this Step for a number of summers. During this time, they master fundamental sailing skills as they begin to sail more independently on Boston Harbor, increasingly without a sailing instructor aboard. Sailors will spend the first two weeks of the session in Rhodes 19s, then transition into our new fleet of RS Quests to work on skills and boathandling in a faster, more responsive dinghy. By this level, students must be proficient swimmers, as they are being using boats that can capsize. Please refer to the registration FAQ section for more details.
