Courageous Sailing

Courageous Sailing is a nonprofit community sailing and youth development organization committed to providing people of all ages and backgrounds with opportunities to learn, sail, and enjoy the waterfront. We work at two locations in Boston: the Charlestown Navy Yard on Boston Harbor, and the Historic Jamaica Pond Boathouse in Jamaica Plain. Our mission is to transform lives through sailing programs that inspire learning, personal growth, and leadership.

Position Overview

The Development Coordinator will work with the Education + Development Director and Executive Director on administration and communication in support of development, fundraising, and marketing.

Responsibilities
  • Work with Education + Development Director and Executive Director to support core development and fundraising efforts, including stewardship of existing donors and recruitment of new supporters
  • Serve as a point of contact for Board members and donors; respond to requests for information and resources to support development
  • Connect with Courageous students and stakeholders to identify stories that illustrate the impact of Courageous programs; create engaging content that can be shared with donors and the broader Courageous community through newsletters, social media, etc.
  • Maintain Salesforce database of donations and donors; analyze/utilize data to grow donor base
  • Prepare and track timely thank you letters to donors
  • Assist with Courageous Sailing fundraising events
Job Qualifications
  • Ability to comfortably engage with stakeholders from a diverse array of backgrounds, including those from underserved and marginalized communities
  • Enthusiasm and passion for the mission of Courageous
  • Two to four years of non-profit development/fundraising experience
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; strong analytical skills
  • Degree from four-year college or university
  • Must be detail-oriented and organized with the ability to manage multiple, concurrent projects and initiatives
  • Comfortable giving and receiving feedback and resolving disputes
  • Advanced Microsoft Office skills; CRM database (such as Salesforce) preferred
  • Fluent in social media (Instagram, LinkedIn, Facebook)
