Courageous Refunds and Rollover Policies

Our goal at Courageous is to get everyone out on the water safely and engage each of our students and members in our unique and personalized community of sailors. Everyone who sails at Courageous is actively engaging in our mission to bring transformative sailing opportunities to young people in and around Boston and we are both thankful and humbled that you chose Courageous as your place to recreate, learn, and form new memories both on and off the Harbor. 

 

We do our best to provide each of our adult students and members with an exceptional product, but sometimes circumstances beyond our control, from adverse weather to once-in-a-century pandemics, get in the way and force us to reschedule. Also, we certainly understand that life in general can get in the way, and our students may need to reschedule. And we in turn appreciate your understanding that operating a sailing center and maintaining a large staff and fleet of sailboats involve many fixed costs. We've outlined below our policies and procedures around how best to move forward if and when cancellations and rescheduling are necessary.

 

 

Covid 19 Refund Policy

 

Covid-19 has presented us with extraordinary circumstances. We are not able to provide refunds for memberships and courses purchased before March 15, 2020. In all of these cases, we will be working very hard to fulfill all of them, safely, within the 2020 season. Courses that can not be rescheduled in 2020 can be rolled over to 2021. 

 

After suspending new membership and lesson sails between April and July, we are very excited to make them available for sale once again. It is important to understand, however, that by purchasing a new membership or lesson after August 15, 2020 one must agree to and understand that all sales are final, and that Courageous Sailing will fulfill all products to the best of our ability within the year it is purchased. Any purchase that cannot be fulfilled due to further closing related to the health and safety of the community cannot be refunded.

Memberships delayed or unavailable due to Health and Safety concerns are non-refundable and cannot be rolled over to the next season.  

Courses purchased after August 15, 2020 and delayed or unavailable due to Covid-19 safety concerns may be re-scheduled for completion during our 2021 season. 

 

 

Standard Refund Policies

 

In an effort to keep our courses and memberships as affordable as possible, we must limit changes in schedule and membership. Because staff and instructors are hired and scheduled in advance, Courageous memberships, lessons, and/or other program fees are not refundable for any reason, including cancellation due to weather, or the participant’s inability to utilize the membership, lesson, or program. That said, we do understand that sometimes life gets in the way of sailing plans and, if necessary, we will work with you to reschedule for a later date. We cannot reschedule lessons within two weeks of their start date unless we are able to fill the spot with another student. All rescheduled lessons purchased before September 1 must be completed before the end of the season for which they were purchased; if purchased between September 1 and October 31, rescheduled lessons must be completed before June 30 of the following year.
